Silver mines destroy thousands of acres of land in the Amazon rainforest, resulting in many animals losing their habitats. The excess mercury and cyanide from mining are also being released into the Amazon River.

At Apsley & Heron we create our jewellery from 100% recycled silver. By using recycled silver it reduces mining waste by an incredible 97% according to Greenmatters. It also helps limit the amount of metals that must be mined, which in turn slows the amount of natural resources we use. 

Mining silver gravely impacts the environment; it causes erosion and contaminates ground water. By using recycled silver in our jewellery we can reduce water usage and cut CO2 emissions by 2/3 compared to mined silver.
